From the estate collection of Dusty Seno, Chicago Illinois. One of a kind and rare, darling antique Victorian Christmas Pincushion. Silk edged looped trim. There is a sewn in hanging fixture for wall mounting. These items were promoted by Queen Victoria for her servicemen to keep occupied during downtimes in hospitals during recovery they could be purchased as kits containing the printed fabric threads and beads designed as “tokens of love”
However, the Sweetheart Pincushions were always Hearts. This one is a precursor to them. Super old and in excellent condition. It reminds me of a Currier & Ives drawing. The beadwork is beautiful and the colors are so deeply intense and rich. Not to mention the rare Christmas Theme! Silk printed vignettes. Circa 1889-1902
