This Morgaine necklace features imagery of a putto poised against a shell, a motif that appears frequently in European decorative arts of the late 17th and 18th centuries. These figures—often called amorini—were used to symbolize love, tenderness, and the generative forces of nature, especially when paired with maritime or shell imagery associated with Venus and the sea. Originally intended for decorative surfaces rather than framed display, scenes like this once lived on ceramics, architectural panels, or ornamental objects meant to quietly enrich daily life.
Here, the image has been preserved and recontextualized as a small, wearable fragment of that tradition, finished with a freshwater pearl that echoes the maritime symbolism and lends the piece a gentle sense of continuity.

Collectors Notes:Putti were especially popular in Rococo and late Baroque decorative arts, where they appeared not as grand alries but as intimate, playful presences woven into everyday objects. I was drawn to this image for its softness and motion, and for the way it feels less like a statement and more like a companion—something meant to be worn often, and noticed slowly.
