Detailed information on Late 19th-Century French Walnut Winemaker’s Table - 67¼\" x 39\"

A late 19th-century walnut winemaker’s table from rural France, this piece carries a quiet authority shaped by years of utilitarian use. The rectangular plank top displays a deep, well-earned patina, with scattered stains, surface marks, and age cracks that speak to its long working life and lend it a richly lived-in character. The warm tone of the wood has softened beautifully over time, enhancing the table’s understated presence and honest appeal.
Simple square legs are joined by a low perimeter stretcher and reinforced with diagonal braces, creating a grounded, architectural stance and excellent stability. Originally designed as a folding winemaker’s table with a removable top, it no longer folds and now presents as a solid, fixed worktable.
Because of the low stretchers and cross-bracing, legroom is limited, making it better suited as a console, display table, or writing desk rather than a dining table. Place it in an entry hall with lamps and a mirror above, use it in a living room to anchor books, ceramics, or sculpture, or set it in a kitchen or studio as a generous working surface. Its warm patina and robust undercarriage bring depth, texture, and architectural interest to both contemporary and traditional interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.Approx. overall 27½\" high x 67¼\" long x 39\" wide Approx. overall 70cm high x 171cm long x 99cm wide
