An ivory-ground Mahal rug with a finely drawn Herati design field, organized around a stepped diamond medallion with generous breathing space that gives the composition clarity and ease. The borders are crisply drawn, framing the field with confident definition.

Areas of wear and gentle oxidation lend the rug character and edge, subtly revealing light blue–dyed wefts that add tonal variation and depth. A deep indigo border with bold palmettes anchors the design, while accents of madder red, teal, and muted green enrich the palette. The wool remains supple and the rug is structurally sound, making it well suited for both collected and lived-in interiors.
